In preparation for Alt Summit NYC, I have been busy with my scissors crafting up some of these business cards! What your business card looks like and what you wear are probably the two most important things to get right if you want to be memorable at Alt Summit. Being a small fish in a big sea of amazingly creative and fashionable design bloggers, my top goal is just not to embarrass myself!
I am pretty excited about how these cards turned out. I wanted a card to capture the essence of what Design Improvised is all about - and I am hoping the DIY feel and the bright pops of color do just that.
Plus, how fun to be able to fan them out and let people pick their favorite color?
How did I make these? It took three easy steps:
1. I ordered business cards printed with my logo and blog information from Vistaprint. My sister helped me with the design and layout. I had them printed on their 'ultra premium' card stock - the thicker the better in my mind!
2. I found these great colorful scissor paper cutouts on Etsy from seller The Pretty Paper Shop. Only $2.50 for 50 of them! I used a little Elmer's glue to affix them to the business cards at an angle
3. Then I got out my trusty scrapbooking scissors and cut out the corner of the card with the zig-zag edged scissor:
