Welcome to Design Improvised!
This is a blog dedicated to easy DIY decor projects that can make a big impact in your home. You can create a new accessory or add pops of color to your space in minutes. Home design doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful - just improvise!
A little more about me...
I'm a Wharton educated business strategy consultant turned design blogger. Now rather than staying up late working on a client PowerPoint presentation, I am staying up late to spray paint or Mod Podge after my kids go to bed. I live in the awesome Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago with my girls Stella (age 3), Hazel (age 1), and husband Ross.
I am a habitual shelter magazine clipper and design blog reader. I love improvising on ideas I've come across to make them my own. Being a mom of young children, I particularly like projects that make a big impact with minimal time and money invested! This blog chronicles my latest adventures in decorating my home, crafting, and entertaining, often with my daughters in tow.
In addition, I offer virtual design services for clients looking to give a room in their house a new life. I strive to find chic and inexpensive pieces and emphasize personal accents (often from Etsy!) to make the space their own. If you are interested in my virtual room design services, you can check out my mood board portfolio, or feel free to shoot me an email.
I love hearing from readers, so please do send me a note with any comments or suggestions for the blog!
