Man Cave Plans and National Painting Week

This coming Monday is my husband Ross’s birthday. In preparation we’ve finally started working on his “man cave”!

The actual man cave is truly a cave – just a tiny room off of laundry room, but a space of his own nonetheless! The poor guy is outnumbered 3 to 1 in our house full of pinks and purples (you’ve seen my pink office, right?!). I put the above mood board together to capture the industrial, vintage feel Ross is hoping to achieve with the room…with just a touch of Texas flair (think cowhide rug).
While we have a ways to go in furnishing the room, we scored some really great industrial accents at Home Goods last weekend. I particularly love the numbered nesting bins.
Ross has ambitious plans to DIY some industrial pipe shelving on one wall to house a TV and a little desk nook for himself like this:

And then there is the paint! What says masculine more than a nice deep shade of paint on the wall?

After trying out several colors last weekend from Sherwin-Williams, Ross decided to go with the color on the far right called Peppercorn. While a little hard to tell from the photo it is a dark gray with a touch of navy – I love it!
It turns out we picked a good week for a paint project – it just so happens to be National Painting Week! My favorite source for paint, Sherwin-Williams has been celebrating with a week full of color inspiration and project ideas. Each day they are featuring a different color with fun projects from fellow bloggers. Today is all about Vibrant Violet and one of my favorite bloggers, Thrifty Decor Chick is showing how she used it in her master bedroom closet.
Here are some interesting painting stats from Sherwin-Williams – looks like lots of us have some painting projects planned for the coming months:

What painting projects are you hoping to tackle soon? I want to hear!
